Abstrakt EN: Within the ESA’s STSE GOCE+ program (2012-14) a consortium of researchers from 6 European institutes investigated applications of GOCE gravity gradients in order to improve geophysical models in two different test areas. The first area, the Reykjanes Ridge near Iceland, covers a mid-ocean ridge that plays a key role for creation of a new crust and for generation of ridge push driving partly plate motion. GOCE gravity gradients were used herein for refined local density modelling that could not uniquely be achieved through seismic measurements. In Africa, the second test area of the project, GOCE gravity gradients were combined with a local sediments model in the Congo Basin in order to refine an initial density model derived by a 3-D modelling program from known petro-physical models. This contribution discusses namely the geodetic part of the project including validation, combination, validation and continuation of GOCE gravity gradients. However, main achievements of the geophysical modelling based on gradient data are also shortly reviewed.
